Have you ever wondered why Jesus cursed the fig tree? This text can be confusing, especially when including the details found in Mark 11.

In this video, we will look at the difficult part of Mark 11 and educate ourselves on fig tree botany to discover why Jesus was angry at the fig tree.

I FIRMLY BELIEVE JESUS WANTED TO DEMONSTRATE HIS POWER AND AUTHORITY AND TO SHOW US HOW HE DESIRE HIS CHURCH TO BEAR FRUITS AND TO INCREASE OUR FAITH IN HIM.

Thanks for quickly breaking that down. I was in a deli and saw fig spread. That curse came to mind. Then the main question you just answered. My question was because he saw it bore no fruit or was it because he asked of it and it bore no fruit for him. He had the ability to make it bare fruit but he did the opposite. Why. So that helped. I'll keep watching these snippets because you gave a pure answer that easy to come across. Subscribed.

Thank you brother. This explanation was superb. I've seen about two other explanations and they match yours.

Its symbolic of the old nation of Israel. They bore no fruit they mostly rejected him so he cut them off. Romans 9-11. He signified this when the temple was utterly destroyed and all the ones who didnt heed Jesus' words to flee jerusalem were slaughtered in 70AD by Titus. Out with the Old, in with the New. Know who you are in Christ, the only True Israel of God. Glory to His name!

It was a metaphor for the temple, which Jesus subsequently entered and cursed for what it had become, i.e., a tree that produces no fruit. Then he leaves the temple and tells his followers that a temple is no longer necessary to mediate forgiveness as it is now tied directly to their faith.

In Luke 13:6 it said about a fig tree growing in the vineyard and then in Isaiah 5:7 it says that the vineyard represents the land of israel and jer 24:5 the fig tree is also nation of israel. So since he cursed the fig tree doesn't it mean that its the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70? It says in Luke 21:20, 24 that Jerusalem's desolation is near and they will fall by the sword. But then in Rom 11:26 it says Israel will be saved so maybe that means it was the time when Israel got their Independence in May 14. The Fig tree is telling us a history. Probably the reason why he cursed the Fig tree is because the people in israel rejected Jesus when he came the 1st time on earth. Going back to Luke 21:24 it says " Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" and the part where it said "until the times of the Gentiles are fullfiled" means that the period that the Jerusalem is trampled on by Gentiles was set. When you think about how Israel got independence finally for such a long time means that the Fig tree revived right? In Mt 24:32-33 it says that's the twigs from fig tree get tender and then it also says that when you see those things, IT IS Near, right at the door. So what does it mean that "It is near"? When you see in Rev 3:20 it says "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock..." (Revelation book is about 2nd coming Christ)

Going back to Mt 24 it says when the twigs from fig tree get tender, IT IS NEAR so meaning that when Israel got their Independence that means that 2nd coming Christ already appeared

The Fig three hasn't harm anyone, but yet it was cursed, Instead of getting help. If you posses the power and all the knowledge, then you should enlighten it by showing your divinity, instead of killing it.
