Wow the Paris metro is extremely impressive. They never had long breaks of no construction like the NYC metro did. Your video is amazing by the way, as usual.

And in addition to the metro and the RER, there are the transiliens and the tramways too.
And now they are building the "Grand Paris Express" with lots of new metro lines and extensions of existing lines.

Have anyone noticed that the Paris Metro didn’t have any closures of any branch at any point in the timeline?

This is so cool! But I have a suggestion: what about putting a scale bar on the videos? A 1km scale bar for example. I say this because people who don't live in these cities probably don't know the true scale of these metro systems, so a scale bar would give more context and be really helpful to make us understand this better😄
Continue this great work!

I like how, within the City of Paris, all of the lines are connected to each other so that you can get from any part of the city to another... in America, even the best subway systems typically radiate outward from the center with little connections outside of the city center

5:48 Who knows the joke about the RER A (a true story) ?

When they were thinking about making this regional metro, the original name was :

Metro
Express
Régional
la Défense
Etoile
That makes the word M.E.R.D.E. (that means s*** in English). so they changed the name into
Réseau
Express
Régional
(RER)

Please do Berlin, Moscow, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Shanghai, Singapore and other cities that have underground and overground metro systems and subways. The Paris metro subway as it has been extended does go lot further.

WOW I'm impressed by the planning, also how far that RER lines could reach.

You forgotten to show between the part between 2020 and 2030 that is really impressive.

I love watching these videos, especially when I get to compare them to Toronto, which hasn't built a new subway line since 2003 😂. If I may make a suggestion, when you show a line being transferred to another line, highlight / bold / flash the line text. I had to rewind the video a couple of times when those changes happened because I couldn't notice it with all the different colours. Looking forward to Tokyo and Madrid. Cheers!

2:29 They opened quite a long stretch in 1916 when thousands of Frenchmen were getting blown to bits in Verdun per day

Amazing video! Its so amazing how dense other city networks are in comparison to some of the oldest systems in the US!

It'd be interesting from a historical standpoint if you could do a video on the rise, fall, and rebirth of rail/busway transit in Los Angeles. Like the rise, consolidation, and fall of the interurban lines, then the rise of LA Metro and its related rail and busway segments

For the line 8, I think, they're an error because it's "Maison Alfort Stade" x2, when the 2nd are "Maison Alfort les Juilliottes"
other than that, great video!

Great video, but it lacks the mention of the Navette (shuttle line) between lignes bis, it used to exist at the pre-war times, and briefly in the 50s (to test the pneumatiques tires of the subway train).
