l enjoy watching your video of the world situation and its addiction to oil and technology that has let us drift away from reality and a survivable future.
l was stuck in the peak oil mindset since 2007 and see the resource - population off balance as a build up to a complete collapse of everything we rely on to keep the growth consumption paradox that threaten's the future of humanity, you are very good at connecting a lot of the dots along the way and in my mind at least you are understating how population and consumption of resources out ways the urgency of peak oil in that we have created an unlivable scenario going forward and quite possibly a die off of nearly all species on the planet in a very short time line, this will be exasperated by economic collapse and most likely another final war as we destroy all that was a naturally balance eco system.
Money and our desire for it is just as bad for the planet as industrial civilization is with fossil fuel addiction, the population of the world has more than doubled since 1970 but people use around 8 times as much energy per person now trying to get more and more, this is just another of our useless entitlement's.

The US spent 20 years trying to build a new high speed train, China cranks out like 14, 000 km a year. Coal in asia is not going anywhere, China is building hundreds of power plants around south Asia.

Coal gasification is big in south asia, By 2030 more oil will be used in manufacturing than burnt in 2 billion cars, 200 million of which will be electric. Energy demand will be up 25% by 2040 and renewables will only be 15% of global energy.

You got the oil situation right but don't fall into the trap of transitioning to EVs and renewable energy sources to keep going, because it's nowhere near as effecive as fossil fuels. You speak of EROEI, well look at the EROEI of solar PV or WInd power, it's too low and you also have the storage problem. To sustain a complex society, you need an agregated EROEI of 12:1 or above, check Charles Hall and Joseph Tainter works on that matter.

EVs require a lot of rare earths and metals, and there's simply not enough neodymium, cobalt, nickel and lithium to make the engines and batteries. Everyone thinking that electric vehicles are the future is completely delusional. The future will be less, and less, and it will be slow paced.

Why did you exclude the years after 2010 for the US production chart when fracking had started to build around that time? The tech behind fracking is increasing the recoverable reserves a lot. If I remember correctly, that bar chart you used for recoverable resources does not include the new oil that can now be extracted by fracking. Just something to think about.

The transition will be to a society with a lot less energy which means a fundamental change. No more energy for massive mining and manufacturing and this includes pv solar panels and big wind turbines. So, get used to recycling and hand crafting bicycles because we are not going to run the systems we have now because too many complex parts requiring too much energy will not be sustainable. We are talking about a world in which the hand and foot power technology of India will be the new silicon valley. Don’t be surprised if you see a hell of a lot more sails popping up where motorised vessels once were
