A Guide to Events & Festivals in Scotland
Показать описание
Scotland has few rivals in the world when it comes to events and festivals, but your trip wouldn’t be complete without experiencing one of our many unique and traditional events.
From dancing to drums, tossing a caber and tasting delicious local produce, to elaborate costumes, adrenaline fuelled sports and ancient Scottish culture – there is a huge range of festivals on offer that the whole family can get involved in.
Start off the year with the world-famous Edinburgh Hogmanay Fireworks on the castle ramparts, or join in on themed events to celebrate the life and works of Scotland’s National Bard, Robert Burns, on 25 January at a Burns Supper.
Explore a whole other world of music, including contemporary and modern beats, traditional Scottish tunes, as well as toe-tapping bands and musicians at festivals across the country. From warming musical atmospheres in Inverness and Dumfries & Galloway, to vibrant and elaborate performances on the Isle Lewis and in the Scottish capital, to name a few!
During the summer months, don’t miss out on colourful performances, streets lined with extravagant acts, venues filled to the brim and much more excitement at the Edinburgh summer festivals.
If sporting spectacles take your fancy then keep an eye out for some world-renowned events gracing Scotland’s courts, courses and rinks as athletes compete for glory – including golf, tennis, rugby and badminton.
St Andrew’s Day is a brilliant excuse to enjoy some haggis, neeps and tatties. On 30 November Scotland celebrates its National Day to commemorate its patron saint, featuring fantastic events to showcase the very best of Scottish culture and tradition.
Enjoy the incredible Christmas festivities that bring the cities, towns and villages to life each winter. Dig in to delicious mince pies and mulled wine as you take in the bounds of Christmas cheer around you.
