Now a museum ship, the Town-class HMS Belfast has a long, proud service history. In World War II she assisted in the destruction of German battleship Scharnhorst and supported the Normandy landings. However, the Royal Navy ships faced another enemy — mines. Belfast fell prey to the most dangerous of them. It's a miracle that she remained afloat, and it's a miracle that she could return to her base for repairs.

Naval Legends is a series about the construction, service, and daring deeds of legendary 20th-century ships.

No wonder she is a maid, not only she survived bec of her thick hull, she is supplied well to keep her crew healthy and motivated. Her crew did their duties well to maintain her and kept her intact

Too bad they didn't turn Warspite into a museum ship. I would have loved to see a Naval Legends about that.

Its amazing this ship could carry so much armament and 3 sea planes. not only that, having the equivalent to having your back broken and still stayed afloat!
Kudos to my friends across the pond. That is one hell of a ship.

A pity they couldn't have also preserved Warspite as a museum.

Visited HMS Belfast in 2011, was impressed with her layout and advanced level of engineering. She seemed relatively spacious for a ship of her time, but there weren't 900 sailors aboard when I visited. Agree, HMS Vanguard would have been a great museum and tribute to RN history too.

Every time I'm in London, I always go and say hello to her. She's a gorgeous ship. Big Ben, London Eye, Trafalgar Square? Nah, I'd rather go see HMS Belfast.
