Vic Liberals will be asking 'what message' was lost with the people: Joyce

Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce says the federal Coalition is “miles ahead” of the “unfortunate circumstances” of what happened to the Victorian Liberal party over the weekend.

“I’m sure the Liberals in Victoria at a state level will be doing a very forensic attention to ‘what was the message that was lost with the people?’” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“Noting that most of those votes went to alternate right-wing parties.”

Labour won because they campaigned on their achievements and plans. Every other party campaigned with the message "Dan Andrews bad vote for us" hoping that would be enough. Sure, you'll get the anti lockdown voters to not vote labour, but by not including your plans and promises in your message you've divided those voters amongst the other various parties campaigning on the same message.
To the average, decent person, a campaign centred entirely around attacking the current premier is actually off-putting and repulsive

The Liberals haven't worked out the message for the last three elections for the simple reason is that Liberals are well known in Victoria for cutting services to everyone's detriment. Sure our taxes may go up, but we are getting a lot for that. Cutting taxes, cutting services, closing hospitals etc is not the way to go. Dan won because he has done a lot of good, and due to the lockdowns, saved lives by following his health department's recommendations.
