I had the same procedure with Dr. Allaf in February 20212. My younger brother died from prostate cancer, and he had top-notch treatment at UCLA. I am convinced that my local doctor (by selecting Johns Hopkins) and Dr. Allaf (for his knowledge, skill, and attentiveness) saved my life and gave me all these years of good health afterwards. .

I recently was diagnosed with Prostate cancer, but because I had a PSA recently we caught in very early, and the doctors are very optimistic of a complete recovery. PSA’s save lives.

Im a 72y0 man whose PSA went from 4 to 10 in 5 months. I had NO symptoms, gut caught it during routing annual physical. Had radical prostatectomy with da vinci robot in San Antonio Texas. Surgeon is Dr. Michael White. Nothing but good things to say about him and staff. In one day, out the next. 4 mo later PSA is 0.0
No problem with pain or issues with surgery. Incontinence which is side effect of surgery is improving incrementally and should be gone by 6 mo post op. Impotence is a non-issue, everything works great. I am the poster child for early detection. PLEASE get your blood work done annually and then do what you gotta do. I would be in MUCH more serious trouble if I hadn't .

I had the procedure last week in Sacramento. I do not have cancer. Just enlarged (5”) prostate. 78 now. BTW I was born at John’s Hopkins in 1945..

I wish my husband could see you guys... but we based in south Africa cape town.... he was just diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 /3 the last time he had a PSA it was on 2.6 .... but that was 8 months ago, he had his biopsy 3 weeks ago and got really sick where he NEEDED a blood transfusion. His having a scope from the back side done tomorrow . But thats all we know thus far.. his urologist has covid as we speak .

Is surgery recommended for those patients that are in their mid fifties more often than those in their sixties. Also, does Johns Hopkins see retired military members?
