That was literally the longest night of his life. Dawn breaks, everyone splits up, and he drives back alone and watches what's left of Glenn being eaten up by a walker. Rick's exhausted, sad, mad, heartbroken, feeling guilty, feeling responsible, lost, empty inside. Rick is 2 men down, 1 taken, 1 woman in agony physically and mentally, the rest mentally broken.
He's defeated here.
It's hard to watch.
