Are the tips a bit sticky? Can you pick up a glass jar with them? Or a can of beans? Or a bottle of olive oil? Or a jar of mayonnaise?

I want to use them to put items up or bring them down from the top shelves in my pantry. They can’t have hard ends, or the items will slip out. My grip strength is not strong enough to use metal tongs for that job. Or hard plastic ones.
(I have knee arthritis and poor balance, so I can’t use the step stool anymore. I need tongs to reach.)
