In Addition reaction molecules with double and triple bonds can combine with molecules such as H2,Cl2,HCl etc. As a result of this, compounds with double bond get converted in to saturated compounds and compounds with triple bond get converted first into unsaturated compounds with double bond and then to saturated compounds with single bonds.

The special feature of this compound is double bond between the two carbon atoms. Ethene reacts with chlorine to form 1,1- dichloro ethane.
