Omg spraying the paper down with the solution is an absolute game changer. I’ve always done it the hard way. Fold up the papers, take it out the cage, dander and feathers flying everything, vacuuming it all while taking it to the garbage. Thank you 😂

I have to say, I love being able to take a cage outside and really soap it up, power wash it down, get it nice and squeaky clean and disinfected, and dry it out. I'll usually take that time to also soak/clean and dry everything that was inside the cage. Regular cleaning and wipedowns are very important but it just feels to me like the difference between a sponge bath and taking a nice long shower, if that makes sense. No matter how many times or how well I clean off the cage or perches, I feel like it's not as clean as that.

I guess we can hug and kiss our cockatoos? I love my cockatoo so much. I think she just rolls her eyes like here we go! But then she says "I love you", so she doesn't mind. Thank you for the great ideas and the love you have for your little people with wings! Love

We live in an extremely sunny and warm/hot climate, taking the cage out once a week and power washing the cages is very easy and really cleans every little nook and cranny. We are able to do that all year round, so it makes cleaning much easier. Great job on your cleaning routine, you are really diligent and a great bird Mom. Thanks for the tips.

I am impressed. I didn't want to like this method as I'd been taking the big cage outside to clean for years. But, I used your exact ingredients and it worked like a charm. Slightly more elbow grease, but slightly less time. Added a toothbrush to the hard to get places. Props girl!

I will admit, I was just using those microfiber towels soaked and squeezed out to clean the cage, but I can see your way is much better. I will clean with a bucket, water, vinegar and a drop of the natural soap from now on. AND a mask. I wasn't using one either before. Thanks for taking the time to talk about this important topic. I have a cockatoo and she is all about dust. And poop. I do change out the newspaper twice a day. I didn't think to spritz it with the vinegar spray before removing. How smart is that???! I will do that from now on too.

Thanks for the helpful cleaning reminders! I'm not 100 percent on this one so anyone who's knowledgeable please chime in - it's my understanding that since soap is more basic on the pH scale that it can neutralize the acidity of the vinegar making it less antimicrobial. If I have something to deep clean I'll use soap first and then vinegar second or just vinegar and skip the soap for less intensive cleaning.

I must be lazy as I am going to power wash my cages this weekend.
Power washing gets them very clean and I am surprised you call that being lazy. Of course they get spot cleaned regularly
