I've always been a Shimano brake guy and my new bike came built with DB8s instead of the listed Deore, and I was really disappointed (because I once had DB5s and they really sucked). However, I've been pleasantly surprised. The lever bite isn't as sharp and precise as Shimano, but actually on the trail they've felt great. Plenty of power from the 4 pots especially with a 203 front rotor. I'm actually starting to enjoy the slightly more vague bite point as it has more margin-for-error on lock-ups. My main goal these days, as MTB is getting so expensive, is to find mid-price componentry that works really well and is reliable. DB8s are on that list now.

I just cannot stand the Code R but DB8 are different story. The lever feel is just as I wanted to be.
