Queen Victoria scratching her face out is one of the first "ew, delete it!". Truely fascinating.

Other facts:

The coronation of George IV was the last to feature a Coronation Banquet in Westminster Hall, with the King's Champion in armor on horseback riding through the hall and challenging anyone who would deny George's title. It was also the last to have a formal procession on foot from Westminster Hall to the Abbey.

The coronation of Charles II was the last one where the new king would ride forth from the Tower of London on the eve of his crowning to show himself to his people.

The coronation of James I was the first time the service was spoken in English; previously it had been in Latin. Edward IV's was the first where the non-liturgical portions of the ceremony were in English rather than Norman French.

Edward VI's coronation was the only one where the bishops and lords kissed the monarch's foot as part of the homage, evidently in imitation of the contemporary practice in Rome towards the Pope and to reinforce Edward's position as Head of the Church in England.

The coronation of Henry I was the quickest after the death of the previous monarch: four days. After his elder brother William II's "accidental" death while hunting, Henry rode hard to London, seized the treasury, and had the nobles make him king instead of still another brother who had a better claim but who was both controversial and living outside England.

George III's coronation was probably the worst in terms of gaffs, with Victoria's a close second. However, the riot of looting following the banquet of George IV's--together with the public spectacle of George's estranged queen unsuccessfully trying to enter the Abbey--makes that one the most embarrassing coronation as well as costly.

The coronation of John was the last where the king was elected before his crowning, bypassing his nephew.

Only two coronations omitted the communion service: John's and James II's. Not something to emulate.

Henry VIII tried to change the coronation oath before the ceremony to strengthen his position versus the Church, but this was before the break with Rome which wouldn't happen for more than twenty years.

King Henry VIII did not have an "Oath of Allegiance" sworn to him as "Head of the Church" at his coronation. Henry was Married to Catherine of Aragon. They were both teenagers and still Catholic.

Wow! What a spectacular video! I enjoyed every second. Would be amazing to have a longer, more in depth version. Truly amazing to see each monarch in such colorful detail.

My great grandmother was born 2 years after King George VI reign began, but she had older siblings 20 years actually meaning they have seen monarchs we have not. From their birth, to the siblings who are now alive. They have seen 4 monarchs. King Charles III, Queen Elizabeth II, King George VI, King George V, while her mother was alive in her time to see King Edward VII. My great great great grandfather was born during the reign of King George IV.

See now this is what AI could also be useful to us, to give us an idea of what a historical event with plenty of written details could've looked like.

This is extraordinary!!! I was moved beyond words! I even got a little teary eyed at the majesty of this. How worthy of the monarchs is your editing! This video made me proud of the British Monarchy to my very core! 🇬🇧👑 I don’t know if you intended it, but the transition you had from one monarch to the next where you pan the camera as if you’re turning around, it reminds me of how each coin of a new monarch has them facing a different direction. That extra touch was so deeply royal and made me feel the power and significance of this empire. Thank you for making this. I’m excited to watch more! 🇬🇧🇬🇧💖💖✨✨

This is really wonderful but you really should have had Katherine of Aragon with Henry viii, as they were crowned together, were such an iconic power-couple and their coronation was so splendid. They were the golden Renaissance prince and princess. Mary i looks beautiful, well done

King George I wasn't married when he succeeded Queen Anne in 1714, having divorced his wife in 1694. Although she was imprisoned for the last 30 years of her life for the alleged affair.

Handel's version of Zadok the priest was first performed at George II coronation, but the anthem itself has been sung in various forms of the anthem for more than 1000 years, dating from the early Saxon coronations

I like how you pointed out the strife between the mainly French nobles and the English commoners, plus the Scottish. People tend to forget that there was a large difference between the two, especially during the reigns of William, the Henry’s and Richard’s, but eventually like you pointed out in the coronation of Henry IV, the languages started to mix with each other and became Middle English, which we now have as Modern English. Very cool to point that out, great video
