Anna Nam introduces her recent preprint with Dr. Dan Landau’s lab aiming to understand how somatic mutation leads to clonal expansions in human tissue. By applying single-cell multi-omic technologies to profile genotypes, transcriptomes, and methylomes from individuals with clonal hematopoiesis, this work identifies specific epigenetic and transcriptional events that lead to biased differentiation and aberrant cellular phenotypes, and demonstrates a path forward to understand the downstream consequences of somatic mosaicism.
