I have seen too many grade 8 bolt fail in high shock applications. I have more faith in grade 5 bolts. I'll take tough grade 5 over brittle grade 8 anytime. If you find a snapped bolt it's always a grade 8. Look at the millions of snapped exhaust manifold bolts on GM and Ford vehicles. All grade 8. Repair with grade 5 and never break another bolt. Though dirt track racing. Grade 8 snap. Grade 5 might bend in high impact but never snaps and you Finnish the race. I've been bolting things together for 40 years and my go to bolt is a grade 5. On the farm too. Grade 5 gets the job done with no snap offs.
