I think you hit the edge of the coin.
So the coin will shoot in your lap.
In your hand you have a coin.
You count to 3 you drop the coin in the glass.

There is a piece of tape on his palm holding those coin up and he hits the coin with the edge of the glass so it shoots off of the table, I used to do this trick

Well done, the palmed coin is visible for us as a clue when he says " and I have a coin"). Then he uses the finger on the coin as a guide to line up the rear of the glass cup with the coin, so that on the third tap, the glass cup moves away from the coin slightly. His whole hand then slides down, as the palmed coin is released, and his thumb is able to flick the coin into his lap as he removes it to invert the cup to pour the previously palmed coin out.

I love all these half answers but not one explaining the trick in its entirety. Looks like we can all agree the quarter being dropped in the glass is being palmed prior to dropping it. However after watching no less than 10x's I can't spot what happens to the initial coin. I'd like to say it gets slid off the table but I couldn't spot it. Regardless of how this illusion is pulled off its done very well!!! Cheers

When he says I have a coin look into his palm, the hand holding the glass, and you can see the coin through the glass in his palm… then he taps a few times flicks the quarter into his lap and drops the coin from palm in the glass. Well done though
