Ambassador Chris Hill joins Erin Burnett to offer his reaction to President-elect Donald Trump's call with the Taiwan President.

I don't see it as a mistake. In fact, it's about time that a US president was willing to stand up for Taiwan's rights! Taiwan is a country! I should know. I'm living in Taiwan now, and I previously lived for 11 years in China. Travel to both and it's easy to see that they're different countries. So why do we insist on going along with the fiction that Taiwan is not an independent country? Because China will get upset? If they can't deal with reality, then that's their problem. If China was the size of Singapore, everyone would laugh at them! But because they're big and have such a large economy, nearly all the other countries play along simply so they can make money in China. It's pathetic. To be honest, I didn't vote for Trump. But if he's willing to stand up to China, then maybe it's good that he won after all.
