Oatmeal Milk and Honey Cold Process Soap - with a Mica ITP swirl and made with Oat Milk

Oatmeal, Milk and Honey is one of those classic soaping fragrances that just sings of sweet honey and creamy oats. For this soap, I will be using Oat Milk as part of the liquid and ground oats for exfoliants.

I also wanted to see if the In the Pot (ITP) mica swirl will work with light colours.

My recipe was inspired by Royalty Soaps but has been tweaked to include my favourite ingredient, Shea Butter.

30% Coconut Oil
20% Palm Oil
3% Shea Butter
42% Olive Oil
5% Castor Oil

Superfat – 5%

Lye and Water – I work at 33% Water but you can choose the amount that works best for you. The Lye amount can be calculated using your favourite soap calculator. I prefer to use

I have had success in creating a pseudo colloidal oatmeal. I say pseudo because I don't think it would compare to a commercial colloidal oatmeal, but it does stay suspended in water (dissolve). It's not hard, but can be time intensive.
I add 1 part rolled oats to 4 parts water in a blender. I blend until the water turns a creamy white. At this point you can strain the oats out (I use s clean tshirt) and use the liquid as is whether in drinking, cooking or making soap.
I like to discount water when making soap, so I don't like adding extra liquid of I can avoid it. So, how to extract the water from the oat milk? I have a food dehydrator with trays that accommodates liquid. I do line the trays with plastic wrap or waxed paper to save tears later. Trust me, if you try this, don't for get this step. You will thank me later.
I fill the trays with oat milk and set the dehydrator on the lowest temperature. Mine goes down to 95° Fahrenheit. This is the time intensive part. It can take several hours up to a full day to completely dehydrate.
I have an 8 tray dehydrator and can usually get about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of powdered oatmeal.
It is soothing to the skin when used in baths and I can add the powder to soap, bath bombs or lotion as I need to.
Like I said, I don't think it would be comparable to a commercial brand, but for me, it serves its purpose.

This is absolutely gorgeous!!! Will definitely try your technique with gold mica. I love the slight tan this soap is getting, white is showing even more. My OMH soap is fragranced with cinnamon and benzoin eo, customers love it, definitely best seller.
