The weather might be cold right now, but 2024 was the hottest year on record, after the 1.5 celsius warming limit was breached.

Speaking about climate change can be tricky for some people though.

Ruben Reuter went to Edinburgh University, where a team of deaf researchers are developing new British Sign Language to describe this most important issue.

It's interesting to see how new signs are developed - capturing the concept behind the idea rather than just translating the word.

I’m really surprised new signs are designed by committee- do they really catch on?. Language evolution normally doesn’t comply with orders like that😂

Hard to take any of this bleating about the environment seriously when you never seem to have a problem with the natural world endlessly being bulldozed and concreted over for houses and more cars. Even the greenbelt is being obliterated.

I was shocked to learn that there are only 22 deaf schools in the UK. I don't think we think about the deaf community nearly enough, BSL is after all one of the UKs indigenous languages just like Welsh or Scotts Gaelic.

If deaf people were interested in climate change they would have created a sign for it by themselves. They aren’t concerned with it, a committee has decided to make them concerned with it.

Why is it, that channel 4 uses the same journalist for every m type of story? He has a disability, so he only does stories about disabilities?
