We came to Oman! A country which only receives a handful of tourists per year compared to its neighbours Dubai. Is this the hidden gem of the middle east that more people should visit? Or is it the most boring country and should be skipped...let's find out! 🇴🇲

Hey Ben, you really need to stop being obsessed by not having 'content'. The culture, the views, I like those videos a lot more then you throwing up, or cars honking non stop. I watch these videos for the journey, not the action.

Welcome to my country. Just FYI, dates and coffee are found everywhere and served to anyone (locals and foreigners) free of charge. Typically a person takes these two items with them when traveling and stop to enjoy this little snack with themselves and others

Sometimes you will have Halwa (Omani Dessert/Sweet)

The place you visited is called Nizwa; lots of history there along with the famous market

That meat you ate is called Shiwa (meat with spices that then gets slowly cooked beneath ground). Soooo yummy if done properly 😋

It’s quiet and peaceful because we’re trying to keep our culture alive. Hence why you have come across lots of forts, Souqs (markets), people wearing traditional clothing, etc

Nothing wrong with this content whatsoever mate. To be honest, I enjoy seeing you guys in some not-so-chaotic situations. Boring to some, but informative for those that might want to visit a place like Oman. Something as simple as having a tea and a date with that man in the car park is also good content in my opinion. You'd be surprised how many people appreciate that just as much as a chaotic scene in a market in Karachi!

Ok I'm from oman just some tips for u guys if ur staying more than that or for the next visit, Renting a car was a great idea given the transportation situation. Petrol is relatively cheap in Oman, and prices are fixed, so they won't fluctuate. Also, the places being empty might have been due to school hours or the afternoon heat. It's common for people to stay indoors between 12 PM and 4 PM during summer, especially in rural areas or outside the capital. If you're staying for more than a day, you might want to check out some great spots for tourists like the Bimah Sinkhole, Nizwa, Wahiba Sands, Wadi Shab, Jabal Shams, Jabal Akhdar, and Falaj Daris. There are many amazing places to explore, including great spots for camping and off-roading. You can also see turtles and explore marine life, like diving and swimming with sharks. And if you prefer more crowded areas, you can head to cities like Nizwa, Sohar, or the capital, Muscat. As for Salalah, it's not the best season to visit, but there are still some good places to see. Just keep in mind that it's a bit far, so you'd need to take a plane or be on the road for about 10 hours, which I wouldn't recommend at this time.

Your short trip to Oman brought back fond memories: I spent 7 years there in total. At the time I did a LOT of outdoor adventures - trekking via-Ferrata scuba mountain biking etc… if you plan to go again again let me know I can point you in the direction of some amazing places that take it to the next level and do true justice to what Oman has to offer.

Enjoy warmth of the most generous and humble people on earth. I came to Oman in 2010. I really like the people here. Very peaceful and kind.

Please self-ban the word "content". The strength of your success has always been from making connections with real people and giving a window into their lives and experience.

You & Kat are truly making the BEST content on YouTube right now & long may it continue! 👍🏼❤️ It will be sad to see you without her by your side when she goes home for a bit, but I look forward to seeing all your future adventures together!

Hello Omani here, Been following you and Mr Bald (Benjamin) for a few years now mostly on Ben's channel...great content as always. I am happy that some travelers in 2024 are starting to discover our country whilst being overshadowed by rich neighbours with glammy skyscrapers like Dubai, Riyadh and Doha. Oman tries to stick to its roots whilst being developed and more things are coming in the future to further develop the tourism sector since we cant depend on oil for all our lives to bring money to the country.. Oman is not amongst the wealthiest arab countries but it does have a rich diverse authentic nature from the northern mountains of Musandam to the moonsoon land of Salalah at the south, in between there is the empty quarter one of the biggest deserts in the world... I hope to see Mr Bald (Benjamin) experience Oman for a few days.

That man in the car park who insisted that you sit down and have coffee is not selling his food, basically in our culture after the afternoon 4-6 pm people go out when its a bit cools or even in early mornings and bring their food with them (dates and omani coffee - kahwa are essential of every meal when having guests) and you welcome everyone to have coffee or dates to chat and talk, in towns... and the place you are in is a (souk- market) its a lively place with people coming to shop and sellers so you are expected to have guests over, even if you dont know them, its like you must welcome them to your table or...sit on the ground like we traditionally do when we eat food ..

Great video Ben, keep up the good work :)..welcome to our little hidden gem

Hi Ben I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and it hasn't gone unnoticed that no matter the situation (e.g. substandard shelter, long, humid, cramped sleepless nights on a bumpy train, food poisoning, getting peed on by a stray cat) Kat is ALWAYS smiling in EVERY video! That she can still be smiling and laugh at things that most would not be comfortable with shows me how positive she is in nature, and how that expressed positivity can be infectious and life improving for others around her. What a lovely, beautiful person she must be to have in your life, let alone travel with. That's half your luck mate! Be great to her, she's a keeper.

I live in Dubai. I get to Oman as often as possible. It's total chill and relax. The food, the beaches, the Wadis, the locals. It's the world's best kept secret.

I enjoyed this video a lot. It was more of an adventure/roadtrip than your other videos. I personally prefer video about adventure over social interactions because my job is to be a social worker. Dont change your style man, maybe you could start doing video of the traveling you do between destinations? I'd watch that and the video of the cool places and people you visit.

Ben, you’ve found the magic. Your vlogs with Kat put you in a different category. You both really compliment each other. In my humble opinion, your videos with Kat are far better than the ones you do with Bald because the chemistry between you is just better. Keep them coming!

Man, soon you’ll have to change the name of the vlog to Backpackers Ben & Cat. She’s definitely a major add-on to the channel. Do it, mate. Cheers and Happy Hollydays.👍🏻😎

The guy offering you free coffee and dates at the back of the car was praying (you can tell by his counting of his fingers), that was probably why he was so chill.

Anyway, good video. I hope to see more of Oman as I hope to go one day.

The hospitality and kindness of those who live in Oman was lovely to see, you'd never find anything like that in the UK, haha

Hello Ben, fellow Brit here. I visited Oman a few years ago during a cruise holiday. Went on a couple of excursions including visiting the Tomb of Job and the Sultan's Palace. Found everyone very friendly and helpful.
