The fact that Resto cheated so egregiously and the fight still went the distance just went to show what a great and tough fighter Collins was. Four years in prison for robbing someone of their career and destroying their life was nowhere near enough.

I’m glad at least Billy’s dad spotted the gloves and brought it to the referee’s attention and got the commission to bring those scumbags to justice. Such a shame Billy’s life was destroyed. What a great kid with his whole life and career ahead of him ruined by a pair of crooks! It gets me so doggone mad when I look back at this!

Possibly THE most tragic, disgusting story in Boxing history.

The fact billy took that much punishment and was alive after is truely legendary

The referee should take some blame for this travesty. As he should have checked the gloves properly in the ring

The fight was on the undercard of the Duran v Moore bout. Disgusting behaviour by Resto and Lewis. Criminal.

Panama Lewis was a despicable human being Luis doesn’t get sympathy for me either, because if you watch the assault in the ring documentary at the end of the movie year he admits that he knew something was wrong with the gloves

Resto is a coward. The gloves, the plaster on his hands... The fact that Billy kept fighting and didn't fall once shows his heart and toughness, and the fact Resto couldn't even knock him down... Using his bare knuckles says alot. RIP Billy

This broke my heart if I was his relative i would definitely find a way to revenge for my brother but his corners betrayed him. RIP true champ

Collins won the fight, no excuses. You can not lose against a cheat or have it called a no contest etc.
RIP Billy

May Luis Resto and Panama Lewis be remembered by their cowardice. What a disgrace to boxing. Anything they ever accomplished is tainted by cheating and murder.

Resto should have been charged with attempted murder

I'm wondering if any other of Restos "wins" were achieved by foul play.

I can only imagine what Billy Sr. Was feeling after the final bell. Accepting that his son got beat by a better fighter but also wanting to follow his instincts but nor wanting to be a sore loser and finding out he was right is super bitter sweet. Like dam

This was a crime. Did anyone go to jail?

Don't forget that Lewis gave Aaron Pryor the magical juice in the Alexis Arguello fight. He was caught on mic, "the bottle I mix up". or something like that.

I wonder if Billy’s dad knew or it just so happens that he grabbed his glove at the perfect time.
