Finished watching the movie.

It's hardly a comedy, and tonally isn't really anything like the series.

It's like a Heavy Metal version of End of Evangelion. It's a massive apocalyptic battle between the Army of the Doomstar lead by the band against Mr. Salacia and the Tribunal that's genuinely epic in scope. Absolutely didn't expect them to make something that fucking epic and cool.

Some of the titles of these tracks are incredibly clever, SOS being a cry for help, but also in the context of Metalocalypse, stands for "Song Of Salvation"

I listened to Dethalbum 4 in full before watching the movie of course. And I wasn't paying attention and thought SOS mean like the call for help. And then I saw they came out with the movie soundtrack and figured that Dethalbum 4 was just an added bonus and that none of the songs were in the movie. Then watching the movie when Aortic Desecration played I was like "Oh, so that's in the movie. Cool." Then as the movie went on right before they played SOS I was like "Wait a second. SOS. Oh shit that's the Song of Salvation!" It hit me right before the song played. I love how they hid that in plain sight and did not spoil that. That was brilliant.
