Shadow minister Tom Tugendhat has accused Sir Keir Starmer of a “failure of leadership” in his handling of the disorder that swept through parts of Britain while branding Nigel Farage’s intervention “deeply irresponsible and dangerous”.

The Tory leadership hopeful claimed the Prime Minister “fell short” in the first test of his premiership, before also hitting out at the policing response in the wake of the unrest, suggesting officers had not acted “without fear or favour” during some counter-demonstrations.

Mail On Sunday' Dan Hodges joins Talk’s Mike Graham to discuss this further.

Kier Starmer has made Rishi Sunak look competent. Saying he “fell short” is putting it lightly.

Ask the British people if he is doing well and then you will get a true answer. Absolutely rubbish!!!!

There are serious tensions still within the country. It has not gone away.

Sad that Sir Keir will not turn his attention to the "cause" of the discontent. Ignoring immigration issues is not a policy.

And what was his answer to the 2011 BLM riots? He bent the knee. Shameful

What is disgusting is Starmer’s reaction to the BLM riots, which was taking the knee to them, compared to the legitimate concerns of the British people

What do you mean? He handled the riots perfectly. Problem, reaction, solution.

Starmer has lost the country. His refusal to accept that there is a problem means whatever he does now he is done. Try asking people who don't go to Islington wine bars and dinner parties. Remember, 80% didn't vote for him to start with, and he would get far less than that now.

It's time for MPs to be more straight talking in Parliament....and ask Stalin why he so obviously hates his own people.

"We needed a leader and we got a Lawyer" That's been my fear all along and it's why Starmer is 2 tier, he can't help himself.

No decent person supports the riots. But the best way to reduce the chance of them reoccurring is to address the very real underlying issues, which Starmer refuses to acknowledge even exist. Instead he chooses to insult and persecute those who point out what those issues are.
