Most of us are aware that we don't create strong passwords, but we're also not sure we want to learn how to use a new piece of software.

Thankfully, password manager apps are much easier to set up and use than you may realize.

What is a password manager? Simply put, it's a software that helps you:
1. Create stronger passwords;
2. Store those passwords in a secure vault (opened only by your master password);
3. Retrieves those passwords when you need them;

In this video, Josh explains exactly how a password manager works and lets you peek over his shoulder as he uses 1Password on his desktop computer. Creating, storing and retrieving passwords couldn't be easier!

This sounds like another case of sacrificing safety for convenience. Taking all your passwords and putting them in a single place behind ONE master password? What is there to protect the master password? I know i'm probably missing something that makes this ultra safe, but IDk lol. Appreciate the video

Let’s say I only have an iPhone device and my phone breaks and I need to buy one. But I decide to buy a OnePlus phone. What happens in this case?
Let’s say you don’t have your phone available (left it in the car, etc) but you are using your friend’s computer to do something important. Those are the things that hold me from using a password manager.

I have been using 1Pasword for the last year, (highly recommended), you can open the vault and "view in large type" the required password and each character is numbered. All my passwords are at least 16 characters long.

When using Bitwarden, is it better to use a desktop app or a browser extension?

There are many loose ends even with a password manager like how reliable the app is? Is it secure enough? What if device is destroyed? Are there backdoors? Ultimately, to keep your stuff safe, it takes a mindset, not some fancy tool is like a black box which you fully not aware what's it doing behind the scenes. A intelligent person never trust such apps and do everything by himself.

I notice in the PW manager, your passwords are dots (hidden). If you've forgotten your password, how are you meant to be able to read it?

Just a thought 1. The one that provides that password manager service can also access to all yours. 2. What if hackers can hack into your password manager vault and all the rest of your password? :)

Okay, a password manager will store complex passwords that I won't remember. When I want to log into one of my three-hundred accounts, it won't auto-populate the login fields of both the username or master password?? Is it also advisable to set different usernames for different accounts?

Maybe I am missing something but how is this any different to what I have now which is a document with all my passwords in one location that is password protected by one main password? If the main password is compromised then every other password is too?

I am assuming that the entire password database is encrypted using the master password. What stops the password manager app to leak master password to outside world ? Where is the master password stored ?

If the site has 2FA, and we turn thay ON, is that pretty darn safe? Then we don't need to use such a password manager

So the password manager has very strong and complex password, which allows me to access all the other passwords as needed. Why is it better than using the same very strong complex password for all my accounts?
I have a filling that if someone breaks my manager’s master password he has access to everything.

What if all personal information on FB is not real could we use that FB account to login any websites instead of using email and passwords generated by the password manager? The password manager is still used for that FB account and. All important login.

I'm still at odds with why I should care! If you wanna pay my bills, here you go...no strings!
Water bill = password
Gas bill = password
Electric bill = password
Insurance = password
Have fun!
