As someone with O Negative blood, I can confirm that I am repeatedly asked to randomly run up to auto wrecks to volunteer to donate my blood.

Ah yes, tapping on the screen, beginner mistake. Should've turned it off and back on again.

You gotta love how these shows thrive on the "heroes" who break protocol to save lives more effectively, not realizing that
protocols are literally made to do everything as safely and quickly as possible.

I love how she just was ok immediately after a tiny amount of blood and they didn’t even try to get her out

The fact that the real life medical director of Austin-Travis County EMS had come out and said “you are not authorized to do anything you see on this show” should say something.

"In fact, you're so fired that next week, when we post this job opening, we want you to reapply so we can FIRE YOU AGAIN."

I like how he says “grab a c collar and let’s get her out of there” as if A) spinal immobilization precautions were an afterthought and B) now that her BP came up to a whopping 83/50 we can stop playing around and actually initiate transport

Spoiler: Next episode they are gonna help her breath by using the air pressure of the tires.

I enjoyed how they didn't even ask any further questions. Oh she's O-? Perfect! This patient will love sharing in whatever bloodborne pathogen you are carrying that we don't know about!

“We follow protocol she’s gonna be gone before we get her out of here” that’s a good thing to say in front of your patient

If my crew mate suggested any of that crap we just saw, I would look at them like "what kinder suprise egg did you get you paramedic registration from?"

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait... what if we do a 12 person transfusion daisy-chain? Then we won't have to worry about getting fired because we'll all be dead from blood loss!

I, too, set up the ECG and untested rando person-to-person blood transfusions before attempting risky procedures like C-spine stabilization or oxygen.

The only bad thing about these videos is that they end too soon

When this came out Austin/Travis County EMS sent out a memo stating that none of the procedures seen on this program were to be performed in the field.

"Did you just tap the screen hoping it would change the rhythm?"

LMAO

Doc: How on earth did you stabilize her rhythm?

EMT: I tapped on the screen exactly 5 times.

Doc: Good thing you stopped at 5 taps. Anything after 5 taps would've killed her.
