Norovirus

Infection with norovirus leads to abrupt onset of vomiting and diarrhea after a 12-48 hour incubation. Multiple daily attacks of gastrointestinal distress often occur without warning until spontaneous resolution occurs after 72 hours of misery. Antibiotics only worsen the condition. At present symptomatic treatment of norovirus infection with adequate fluids and calories remains the generally accepted therapy.

Unfortunately the infectious dose is only 20 viral particles but vomit and diarrhea contain millions of virons. Worse yet aerosolization from vomiting or flushing the toilet spreads the virus up to 25 feet. Norovirus particles survive for days to weeks on countertops, doorknobs, light switches, faucets and keyboards.

Infection occurs when the virus gains access to the mouth by way of fingers harboring norovirus particles. This fecal-oral transmission route together with inhaling particles or consuming them on food contaminated anywhere from the field to the kitchen results in more than 20 million cases a year just in the United States.

The good doctor will be remembered well for his excellent videos! I have been eating very healthy for about 6 years since I fixed my high cholesterol with a whole food-plant based diet. There's a good many people on the diet who say that another benefit is not getting sick frequently but I don't know how it shows in population studies.

I had one cold 3 years ago, but I also have sinusitis on occasion, more likely in winter and it might have partly to do with dry air. I think drinking more water helps. One thing to note is I am a solitary individual but I do the normal chores at the laundromat, grocery and other stores so I do get some exposure to others.

Could you please do a video on fibromyalgia. It's almost impossible to get information about it. Everything I have seen, so far, is confusing and no one doctor explains it the same and are usually conflicting. I am asking you to let me know your opinions on the topic.

I caught it from a patient of mine years ago and my kids caught it. It is horrible. I was sick for 10 days. You basically live on the toilet for 3 to 4 days.
I was a nurse on a psych unit. We had to shut the unit down for a week because almost everyone caught it

I ate a bad Popeyes chicken sandwich and my husband and I were sick for at least two days now. I’m hoping it’s over now but holy fuck
