My dad left me at 4 and he reached out to me 10 years later with two younger siblings and I've known him for only two years but he's still never there and he talks to me once a month if I'm lucky. I hate him for not being there, for leaving me with my mom and step dad who somewhat physically and mentally abused me, for keeping away from these wonderful family members I have, for making me miss out on the first 9 years of my little sister's life, and the first 8 month of my little brother's life. But I also love him and I just can't walk away even though he's constantly breaking my heart. Because of the parents I have I was forced to grow up too fast and I'm scared that if I have kids of my own I'll be just like my parents.

I'm a 29 year old man and I heard this last night i was outside in the cold. I had tears freezing to my face. I always dreamed of having a daughter but couldn't have kids. I met my wife in the Philippines and she had a two year old daughter. Her father abandoned them when she was born, left and moved away and never came to see her. I knew what I wouldn’t do if I ever had a kid!! I can relate so well! My parents were mentally and physically abusive . Being abused taught me that I wouldn’t ever beat my children! I wouldn’t ever call them dummy, stupid or beat their heads up against the wall, I wouldn’t ever throw knifes at them, I wouldn’t ever ever ever hurt them the way I was as a child!! ! I have three daughters and by God, I wasn’t the perfect parent but I knew what I wouldn’t do as a parent and I kept that in my heart and mind !
