Masking just got a major upgrade in Mocha Pro 2025. Join Ben Brownlee from Boris FX as he introduces two ground-breaking AI-powered tools: Object Brush and Matte Assist ML. These features allow you to create accurate splines and animated vector mattes with just a few clicks. This drastically speeds up your workflow for tasks like garbage masks and track mattes. If you're using any of Mocha Pro's advanced modules, you'll now work faster in Mocha.

Ben demonstrates how to mask objects in challenging shots, tackling shaky cameras and off-screen movements, using AI tools for the fastest results. These tools integrate seamlessly into your Mocha workflow. Save time by eliminating repetitive manual processes.

The fact that it kept her after she left frame is amazing!!

This is an AI thing that is really important and useful! I'm sure even though there's a job that only for roto or masking, sometimes it's frustrating for 80% because you know it's manual. So with automatic tools like with AI, it's so satisfying seeing things going on in just couple of minutes than hours or days to do a couple seconds of footage!

Beautiful... It is great how the longer work will be fast now

Already used it in a production where I needed holdouts of 3 characters walking in front of a graphic. It was incredibly fast and easy for offline quality! Great update. One thing I realized is that even though the matte is 'rendered' from the plugin into AE, you will still need Preserve Frame Rate checked on the comp if you plan to do time remap/speed changes outside of it!

waiting for the camera track tutorial with this metod! keep up the best ae plugin

I would like to stabilize a shot using the matte assist ml (because its so much faster at tracking a specific point or object) but it won't stabilize when I move from the matte.
** Is there a way to use a matte as a tracking spline or can it only be used as a "garbage matte"?**
I'm new to this and can't find an clear answer to my question. If its a stupid question, please direct me to an online forum or video that can explain it to me. Thanks, love the product so far.

Love the new rotoscoping feature, my only concern so far is that takes longer for me render frames than it's shown in the video. I tried same clip in After Effects rotobrush 3 and it takes about 15 seconds whereas in Mocha Mask it takes up to 1 minute and even longer. Will you optimize rendering in the next updates cause I really love the accuracy of Mocha very much

Feature request: What about hair matte? Trimap on certain parts only.. and production ready out on Atleast on static background type shot. So similar to a difference key, it knows which pixels need to be hard matte and hair key matte. Not just green chroma background but any static or modelled clean plate background so even with movement it can match feature and give precise hair key.

4:29 something is happening here, same problem in my masks and when i do exactly as he asks to do nothing good happens. original masks stays the same. some step is missing here. in fact the video is cut and pasted here without showing what exactly was done after the step, things i hate most about unprofessional tutorials by professional studios.

This looks handy. I've been doing quick GMattes in Fusion with Magic Mask for use in Nuke and now I can use this directly with the OFX. Is this built on Samurai?

I really liked this software. What are the best hardware specifications needed to make it work as fast as possible? I need to create hundreds of masks on millions of frames.

However, I ran this software on my i9-9900K and RTX 2080, and the CPU is loaded at 13%, while the GPU is at 33%. At the same time, the program processes approximately 1 frame every 7 seconds.

How can I speed this up?

I wanted to try out Silhouette for a very long time. Do I still need to?

I know it probably has more features, and it's procedural. However, I think it's either this for simple tasks or just go to Nuke for full control.

Thanks Tom Hanks. Those AE masks created in the end was sad ending, what if we right click on the footage layer and convert layer to mask? Ae creates mask from alpha as far as i know, Would that work?

How I can convert created matte mask to splines?

I need to make matte mask of mooving object in scene (human) and after that get data about created shape in txt format ( x, y coordinates of each dot at each frame).

How I can do this?

Matt, will this be added to the mocha options in BCC effects, or is it only for the full Mocha Program?

This is exactly like Davinci Resolve magic mask right? please correct me if I'm wrong.
I would also love to see a comparison between the two. Thank you

What's the minimum Mac OS version needed for this? We are stuck on Monterey due to 2013 MacPros.

ok..have a masking question...suppose, lets pretend on a layer you have like 3 masks.. A, B, and C...and they all overlap each other... Is there an easy way to chose mask B that overlaps A and C..like in 3d there is "island select" and it will select only those points connected. I click/select roto B and I can now manipulate its rotation or whatever..with out having to select every single point in that mask (accidently selecting a point in mask A or C)
