I was very happy with how it turned out. I only want better AI in battle and doing more as characters, more created officer slots and more descriptions, more tales and force customization and some king rp stuff. I was initially upset that it would lose multiplayer but within the context of the features it makes sense. I wanted more ability to customize npc officers too. And more strategems. Beyond that it ended up fantastic. It just needs those bits more to feel complete.

Although this was meant as a comparison video, I learnt a lot about the basic game mechanics (never played the original) as if was a beginner's guide. Very clear, concise and well structured script. I found it very informative. Thank you!

That moving character art is definitely of the uncanny valley variety. I wish there was a toggle to turn it off.

Was really excited for this remake as rotk8 was my favourite as a kid, however the price just isnt reasonable at all in my opinion.

the best thing about this game is historical events starting in the yellow turban rebellion and then going until the forming of the jin dynasty, you can not do that here one officer is not in his place the historical events are over then all you can do is conquer the map which is really useless when you do it ten or twenty times or start with the officer and scenario of the event you want because i already know every event in the romance of the three kingdoms and i always play as liu bei force which later becomes the shu kingdom/dynasty.

I loved it. The family went away and I spent this entire Saturday playing it.

My buddies and I played this on PS2 back in the day, passing the controller back and forth and had a blast. This, the music, ect reminded me of all kinds of stuff from that time, including turning the music off and listening to Nightwish while playing lmao.

I told my wife it was a blast from the past.

I agree. the animation give me quite the creep. I don't mind the slight body movements but the eye and mouth animation are....a bit disturbing.

I've never played any RoTK games but always have been interested since I grew up playing DW games and I like tactics games but did not had to opportunity nor didn't know where I should begin. This seems like a good remake and a starting point but the price is a little steep and due to the issues you've pointed out, I'm gonna wait for a sale. Thanks for the honest review despite being sponsored by Koei.

I do plan on picking this up as 8 was my favorite version in the franchise. The main thing I'm worried about is the tactics. In the original, each tactic had 6 levels meaning that you would only have a handful of officers in the entire country who were masters of a particular tactic. In the remake, it looks like the tactics have only 3 levels. If it is too easy to reach max level and this leads to a lot of officers running around who are "masters", that would take something away from the tactics system IMO.

i know its a remake but the way 13 had the open world map and the ability for multiple battles to happen at once leads to way better campaign in my opinion. a mix of both would be amazing.
