Spokane housing BOOM or BUST?

Spokane just hit a record for housing permits in 2024, but there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

With 1,066 permits issued in just eight months, you’d think this would be a big win for housing—but 74% of these were for apartment buildings, not single-family homes. And while new laws were set up to encourage diverse housing options like duplexes and triplexes, permits for those actually went down this year.

Spokane needs to copy Louisville Ky With affordable Apartments and affordable homes. We are living in a large 3 bed townhouse apartment that is 1300 Sq feet for about $1250 a month. My husband is from Louisville KY ! We left Spokane in spring 2020. our apartment in Spokane has increased in price between 300 to 500 a month. most people in Spokane can't afford the rent. I just think we are going to see a lot of foreclosures in Spokane because the houses are too expensive. A lot of the apartments in Spokane are either very old or made too cheaply.
