CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Billy (Eddie Murphy) discovers the true nature of Mortimer (Don Ameche) and Randolph Duke (Ralph Bellamy).

FILM DESCRIPTION:
The "nature-nurture" theory that motivated so many Three Stooges comedies is the basis of John Landis's hit comedy. The fabulously wealthy but morally bankrupt Duke brothers (Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche) make a one-dollar bet over heredity vs. environment. Curious as to what might happen if different lifestyles were reversed, they arrange for impoverished street hustler Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy) to be placed in the lap of luxury and trained for a cushy career in commodities brokerage. Simultaneously, they set about to reduce aristocratic yuppie Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd to poverty and disgrace, hiring a prostitute (Jamie Lee Curtis) to hasten his downfall. When Billy Ray figures out that the brothers intend to dump him back on the streets once their experiment is complete, he seeks out Winthorpe, and together the pauper-turned-prince and prince-turned-pauper plot an uproarious revenge. With the good-hearted prostitute and Winthorpe's faithful butler (Denholm Elliott) as their accomplices, they set about to hit the brothers where it really hurts: in the pocketbook.

This movie was so glorious. I loved how these two acted like a pair of evil villains the way that they talked about their maniacal plan out loud. They played it so well I loved it

Love how they call Valentine a psychopath, when they're the ones who have been plotting to ruin two men's lives in the end for entertainment...

To have them do a cameo on "Coming to America' was hilarious.

I love the old convention of "just listen in on the bad guys talking, and they'll reveal the whole scheme to you!"

Its a brilliant image, how they are just washing their hands while talking about the bet. Very symbolic.

don ameche didn't want to say that word. he was offended by it as he was one of the few hollywood actors in the 1940s to stand up for the civil rights of african-americans. eddie and john landis had to convince him to say it for the scene.

I just realized. These two were in Coming to America as the two homeless people when Akeem(Eddie)gave them that bag of money

I worked in the financial field and had a boss very similar to the Duke brothers. He explained the one-dollar bet to me and It's not only real, it was and still is very common. The point of the bet never was the money. (Obviously, by the amount of wealth they carried.) It was the formality between two gentlemen honoring the other's word at the end of the bet.

This was _such_ a great movie. I only saw it the first time when I was like...15 or so but man what a good movie. I've always loved stories with not just a good ending but good justice for the villain(s). Those stories never get old.

Eddie Murphy in the 80s was untouchable. Guy could make me crack up without saying anything.

Don Amache and Ralph Bellamy as the Dukes were one of the best lying, scheming, two-faced characters ever in any film. Even Murphy's character as Valentine, who was a very street-smart character, fell for the Dukes's scheme for a while (even though he was skeptical of them at first), and made it look convincing

When you think about it, the whole reason why the duke brothers did what they did was because they're simply bored. Ruining lives is their form of entertainment.

I always hate how syndicated TV would cut out the N-Word part. It took so much out of the scene. This movie is a comedic masterpiece.
