Just showing how the original SDS drive system was upgraded to SDS Plus by Bosch as a better longer lasing and heavier duty drive system and how the new bits work with old rotary hammers but old bits will not work with newer hammers.

Nice video, didn’t know the history: I don’t recall using the older bits.
The splines on the SDS PLUS chucks eventually give way in a well used drill, regular repair for me to do on drills used every day for about 3 years or more.

Using a rotary hammer is very satisfying. Eat my dust, concrete

Thanks for explanation on 'why' the change to use drive slots on SDS Plus. Has anyone found an adapter to use the original SDS bits with a SDS Plus drill? I have a sackful of unused Hilti bits but they are all the original style SDS. If I had a milling machine i would consider milling the slots; has anyone done that?
