Показать описание
The Eurasian Skylark was introduced to Hawai`i from England in the 1860s. The breast and belly are white, and the back is streaked with brown and white. In this respect, it resembles a large House Finch. Unlike the House Finch, however, the bill is longer and more slender. In flight, the outer tail feathers are conspicuously white. The song is a lengthy complicated series of trills and warbles. It often sings in flight. Skylarks have been reported from all the Hawaiian Islands, but they are most common on the high slopes of Maui and the Big Island. Look for them along the roadside as they take flight to avoid approaching automobiles.
