Tyler, I think this just proves you’re not a ‘typical average American’ any more

Proud to see you so excited about what’s happening outside the US borders.

First off, I wanna take a moment to say thank you for showing interest in our country. You are an American gem that shows care, respect, and authenticity. Love your content ❤

Pierre Trudeau resigned in 1984;
Brian Mulroney resigned in 1993; Jean Chrétien resigned in 2003;
Justin Trudeau resigned in 2025.
Resignations are fairly common.

Note to all Americans. He repeats all he says in both official languages of Canada.

We are Canadians. Resignation of a Prime Minister does not cause overreaction/drama.

This Canadian does not want to become American. No disrespect intended, just happy and proud to be Canadian. I think President Elect Trump would love to get his hands on our natural resources, not necessarily because he loves us. USA - you are a great neighbour, ally and friend but you do you, we'll do us. Thanks for learning about our politics Tyler, your willingness to learn is admirable.

The whole switching between English and French is normal in Canada. Everyone is used to this including the politicians. That's just how it is.

This has happened many times in Canada. We do not elect a Prime Minister, we elect a party, and the party leader would become Prime Minister. The Liberal party will hold a convention and members of the Liberal party will elect a new leader, who will be the new PM. This should be done by late February or early March. Then Parliament will return to work at the end of March. We currently have a minority government, which means that the Liberals need to work with other parties in order to legislate. Any party can ask for a vote of non-confidence and if the majority of the house agrees, then Parliament closes and an election is called. The election date can not be any sooner than 37 days or longer than 50 days. A far cry from our wonderful neighbours in the south, where it always seems are in election mode. Love your comments.

I told my American friends about this and none of them really cared because Canada isn't really a big deal to them. So it means so much to me to see you take so much interest in our country. ❤

He's still leader until the party picks a new leader, and he prorogued parliament until end of March so now they cant hold a non confidence vote in mid January which would have triggered an election. Were not out of the woods yet folks!

Tyler, you are NOT a typical, average American! You are an intelligent man showing an interest in finding out about a country outside of America and doing a magnificent job of it.
