Eden Kane - Forget Me Not (1961) | BFI National Archive

Silver-suited 60s popster Eden Kane sings 'n' swaggers his way through his third Top 10 hit single in this fab full-colour jukebox film.

Though coolly clad in icy white jacket with silver lapels, impressively bequiffed pop heartthrob Eden Kane still raises the temperature with a smoulderingly sulky performance of hit single Forget Me Not. Its writer, Les Vandyke - also known as Johnny Worth - was on a winning streak: he'd already penned a string of smashes for teen idol Adam Faith, including his first number one, What Do You Want?

This pop promo was one of hundreds made for the Cinebox - a coin-operated film jukebox, fleetingly found in British pubs and clubs. Pricier than your average audio-only jukebox, Cinebox never really caught on - but its films captured some terrific early 60s pop acts in full colour. Eden - who gives a terrific performance here, briefly breaking off from Elvis Presley-like sneering to throw some gloriously jerky Billy Fury-style shapes - would enjoy two more top ten hits. Eden's brother, Peter Sarstedt, later wrote and sang Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?, a chart topper in 14 countries.

A bit of pub trivia; Eden Kane was the older brother of Peter Sarstedt who recorded the 1969 no 1 song "Where Do You Go To My Lovely?"....A third brother Robin also had a chart hit in the '70s with a rehash of "My resistance is Low".

Sure is a long time ago. Every time I see Blackpool it reminds me of the shows there. 🇿🇦

Why is this version better than the version that was actually released as a single? I wish I could find it in better quality.

He is the brother of the singers Robin and Peter Sarstadt, as Eden Kane is just his stage name.

I've been cryin' my heart out
Do you love me or do you love me not
If you keep tryin', you'll hear me sighin'
Forg-e-e-et me not

I've been wearin' my mind out
To have you close I'd give all that I've got
The love we tasted, has it been wasted
Forg-e-e-et me not

Ain't I just a lucky guy
Forget me not, forget me not
Woh, I'd lay me down to die
If love is one big lie

There's no need to remind me
Love's afire when the kisses grow hot
So take this ember, then you'll remember
Forg-e-e-et me not

Well, ain't I just a lucky guy
Forget me not, forget me not
Woh, I'd lay me down to die
If love is one big lie

There's no need to remind me
Love's afire when the kisses grow hot
So take this ember, then you'll remember
Forg-e-e-et me not

Forg-e-e-et me not

Forg-e-e-et me not
