CYPRUS: Kykkos Monastery

Kykkos Monastery, which lies 20 km west of Pedoulas, is one of the best-known and wealthiest monasteries in Cyprus. The monastery lies at an altitude of 1318 meters on the north west face of Troodos Mountains. There are no remains of the original monastery as it was burned down many times.

The Holy Monastery of the Virgin of Kykkos was founded around the end of the 11th century by the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos (1081–1118).

The first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III started his ecclesiastical career there as a monk in 1926. He remained fond of the place and returned there many times. His request to be buried Kykkos Monastery is one of the best-known and wealthiest monasteries in Cyprus. my family in the flesh left this morning for cyprus and now it is evening they must have arrived /tomorrow is sunday and hope they visit st lazarus church larnaca as i suggested and not too far from hotel in ayia napa where they are staying/to be spiritually minded is life and peace but alas my family have never put GOD first/ have no true fear of GOD/ romans 3/17 applies not just to them but to all the west who legalised sin in law in early 1960s/ west lost all FEAR OF GOD/when i was too young to understand then and now half century latter we reap bitter harvest of war between two superstates/ the sodom west and godless EU will not make war on their sins/they have chosen to put our sinning and sin FULL self first and so romans 3/17 the way of peace they have not known
