This one was really fun to make, but boy was it a chaotic process with a lot of compromises on my end. I wanted to add more animations, but had to resort to static assets to not prolong the production even further.

And just a couple of days ago the whole file got corrupted, so I had to rush and restore as much as I could from old test exports, as well as remake some parts from scratch.

A couple things ended up being too hard to fix - or at least it would lead to me missing the November deadline by a long shot. So I couldn't implement all the tweaks I wanted to during production, namely smoothing out certain animations.

Though, some remade parts ended up actually being better than in the original version!

I was inspired by anime openings for this one and I think you can tell. If you hear similarities to a certain syuudou song, it's both intentional and not: at some point I realised they share the exact same chord progression and took some hints from its instrumental (by which I mean the horn).

Also it was super fun to make a PAFL song with a real guitar! My playing is very sloppy but I enjoyed doing it:)

It's interesting seeing that as much as Sanya resents sergei's control of her, they have similar fears. Sergei does not want to lose the last person he'd ever considered family, and neither does Sanya. When you look at STRIKE 3 and 100 EPITAPHS side by side, although the two have diverging goals, in the end both Kazarins are tired and scared to lose what they love. Furthermore, both Kazarins are seeing their loved ones start to slip away before their eyes.

"my shadow darkens under the sun", "i'm ready to be blinded by the breaking day"... the sun being used as a metaphor for sanya's perception of yura isn't anything new (goes as far back as FALSE DISPOSITION—"your smile is brighter than the most relentless sun"), so to see it continued but also twisted is an actually pretty straightforward way of showing us how her faith has begun to fray at the seams

Under the "Strike 3" video, one person noted how much the events of "The Mill" affect Sergei: his girlfriend could go to jail, his friend is dead, and the person he tried to put on the right path now seems to have gone crazy, and in this episode we can also see that he drags Sergei's sister into his not good business, Sergei loses the only remaining close person, the last part of a family, loses his sister completely and he can't do anything about

He doesn't have anyone right now, he's alone, he's abandoned....

There was a one person's thought, that all this problems are actualy coming from Sergei, like if he haven't been too overprotective, Yura couldn't have such status in Sanya's eyes and things must turn differently.
Imagine Sergei understands that.... What weight it would be on

ah, yes, ferry continues the trend of having yura be in the thumbnail of sanya's songs, and sanya being in the thumbnail of yura's songs.

I can't help but feel bad for Sanya and Sergei. After seeing Sanya fight back against him, he realised it was pointless trying to stop her from being as reckless as Yura, instead letting her do what she wants in defeat. And it seems Sanya also partially agrees with her brother's point of view of trying to protect her, or at least can see the reason behind it, which is why she sings the same melody as Sergei and is so unsure when Yura smiles at her.

This is honestly insane. I’ve never seen such an impressive PV for a song like this, and the song itself is a banger. Seeing Sergei give up was very much heartbreaking as well. I don’t know what to say, this is perfect

this song is so heartbreaking… like it’s just sanya going “i refuse to let anyone else die” and changing herself to become what she thinks she needs to be to save everyone she loves, even if it puts her in danger. even if she grows apart from her brother. even if she’s drawn further into yura’s plans. she will break bones, both others and her own, to keep her loved ones safe.

Sanya connecting to Dmitry on an emotional level is so cool. I love that she talked about KT and tried to forge a bond with him, I think that was actually a good call (even if she did it in a reckless way)! Also. Sergei was really about to beat up a teenager. Loved Yura's smug face when Sanya came to his defense. I really liked the lyric "I chose to shut my eyes, you chose to bare your teeth", too. Great work as always Ferry!

That expression will haunt me I think, such an amazing job with this one. I think the anticlimax of sergei walking off hurts more than if there was actually a fight.
