nah the funniest lovecraft story is the one where two dudes open up a crypt and one of the goes down into, starts screaming, then after a moment of silence his disembodied voice calls out to his frend like "yo dude come down here its awesome. theres cool stuff down here!" and the friend is like "bullshit" and the voice is like "no dude seriously, its cash money down here in the cursed crypt" and the frend is like "nah ur a demon" and the voice is like "lol yea ya got me"

The funniest HP Lovecraft story is Sweet Ermrngarde. It has a _literal mustache-twirling villain, _ although to be fair, he did write it as a parody of romance novels of the era so he was very much doing that on purpose.

No way the funniest HP Lovecraft story is the one that he wrote after hearing about air conditioners and he got so spooked about the idea of a air conditioner that he wrote a story about a doctor who was keeping himself alive / Immortal with formaldehyde and chemicals but needed to say really cold and is Magic air conditioner stopped working and they had to go get him ice and then the man melted and died in his bathroom. And the guy the main character has hired to help transport ice to his doctor friend saw the decayed mess and lost his mind😂

I like the one where everyone complained about a doctor having his room too cold. Then one day his AC dies and he decays into sludge. He'd been dead for years being kept alive by an AC. Never have I related more with a character.

Love the fact that, in his first few stories, it would end with the big reveal in caps lock.

Also he was still really capable of magic since he was like 250 years old at the end and the wizards name was charles le sorciere (chuck wizard)

I think the funniest hp lovecraft story is the one where he learned about how there are colors on the color spectrum that we can’t see and got spooked so he wrote a story about a color beyond our comprehension that is a monster from beyond our world.

Everyone's talking about his air conditioner story, but the story that made me laugh was one about this guy exploring some ancient ruins left behind by a dead civilization, and eventually, he discovers that their carvings of lizard people aren't their gods, but actually what they looked like, and they died out right after primitive humans showed up.

And it's portrayed as this terrifying, existential horror that there used to be tiny little sapient lizard people running around, making buildings and stuff. But it's not scary?

If anything, it's really sad. These guys made art. They carved their history on their walls. They were just vibing. They probably had their own music and stories, and they'd look up at the same stars we do now and draw out brilliant constellations. They probably sat around campfires and drank stew and told spooky stories. And they're all dead now.

the funniest to me was the one where there was a town was invaded by aliens disgised as humans the best part they only one human disguise and it was Edgar alan poe. so there were multiple edgar alan poes walking around in edgar allan poe's home town asking randos about their day to learn about human society.

To be fair, he did discover the elixir of life that enabled him to be immortal, but he just used it to do more regular murder
