I agree tone bar was an improvement. Sustain was better as well. The theory behind it makes sense as well.

Thank you for doing this. I think there are other, more positive, ways to affect tonal quality like changing to a bone saddle etc. and ensuring there is a proper intonation set up. Thanks again, I've been a player for 45+ years so I know a little bit about guitar tone. You've earned my sub.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to produce and post this comparison. I went back and forth several times, taking small chunks of your before and after playing, and I am surprised that I do hear a difference, although ever so slightly. I do not have any high end equipment, so maybe better sound equipment will help discern more of a difference. The after seems only a little brighter, and only with the pick, when picking with fingers I couldn't hear any difference. Honestly, I like the before sound better; it's more mellow. I can see how brighter on that guitar could be a little bit strident if you really dig in with a pick. By the way, regarding the broken string issue: he says all you have to do is shorten a pin so that it will rest in the hole correctly and replace that string only. Here's the problem with that: the tone bar, securely resting right in the middle of the hole, will be in the way of feeding the ball end far enough to wedge between the pin and the bridge, and even if it fits below the shortened pin, will pull the pin right out because of no wedge.

It seams like it would be a hassle to replace a broken string.

Now buy some metal bridge pins and compare them. There are several brands available now. Some of them cost a lot.
