In some states it's illegal to use the turning lane in middle for a merger lane

Depending on where you are that would be an illegal merge, in Oregon using the middle lane to get up to speed is illegal. Who gets the ticket in that case? I assume the operator, but they wouldn't have control over the behavior would they?

Really good job… I don’t plan on getting FSD due to cost but I always think of those “would the car know to do xyz” like a human would, or better and I think this will only get better with Hardware 4 having added cameras to not have to creep so far to see

why do the American road rules put so much emphasis on creeping past the line when you're doing a maneuver? here that's a nono, you sit behind the line until it's free or the light changes then you go.
