You are really good! So many self proclaimed "big repairmen" would not touch that coil because " to hard to fix". Or too many things that can go wrong.

That copper strip is used by those small position sensing coils to detect the rotational speed of the platter I believe, and the larger coils drive the platter at a rate determined by sensing the rotational speed detected by the smaller coils.

Think of the small coils as providing feedback to the ckt that drives the platter driving coils in order to regulate and/or lock the speed of rotation of the platter....

Good work on that coil BTW...!

Don't forget the mass of the vinyl when adjusting the brake.

180 is a multiple of 60, which is the line frequency (I'm probably way off in guessing why they did that), but you definitely have a lot of patience to do this. Very cool!!! Your knowledge could get you repairing these for a living if you don't do that already.

Argh! I hated seeing your terrific repair of this lovely piece of vintage hi-fi get screwed up. How did it come to be transported without the platter being packed separately (don't answer if it's embarrassing 😄)? Glad you got it set right yet again. Anyway, I loved this series and would like to see more vintage hi-fi repairs. This reminded me of when I was in college and managed to repair my Yamaha R-900 receiver (which I still have 30 years later in working condition) using taped-together xeroxes of the schematic, and a Radio Shack analog multimeter and soldering iron. There had apparently been some event and several transistors were toast. I just compared voltages against the schematic (which I also still have) and replaced bad parts until it started working again. A lot of what you do is over my head but I like seeing stuff get fixed and even improved upon. Keep 'em coming!

This guy is way to hard on his turntable. I would tell him no more, it better not come back again.

Part of me hopes that the turntable gets thrashed yet again just so I can see another repair video. Nice work on the coil. fiddle-y as wiping your ass while brushing your teeth but you got it done.
