If you're wondering what RHSB means, it's red hot steel ball

It's amazing that such a simple concept and experiment can be so mesmerizing to watch! Great demonstration!

To anyone who's surprised that Ice did well, just know that water has a very high specific heat, meaning it can hold a large amount of heat in a small amount of mass. That's why water is good for things like putting out fires, cause it can absorb a ton of heat before boiling off, decreasing the temperature a lot.

That was fucken trippy! I like watching shit like that as simple as it is. Very satisfying 👍

As a man, I can confirm this is how it feels like when taking an ice bath.

This is literally a physical representation of the honeymoon period in a new relationship.

specific heat of steel is 0.1 kcal/kg•K and heat of fusion of ice is 80 kcal/kg. cooling steel ball from 1073K to 273K emits 80 kcal/kg, meaning almost similar weight of ice would be enough to cool the ball. in volume, It'll be around 7.8:1 ratio, which seems to be a fine match with the observed volume ratio of thawed ice and the steel ball.

A lesson is learned from this experiment that even a very angry person becomes calm by coming in contact with a calm person.

this is actually an amazing display of the high specific heat of water.

Could this be a way to help Comments or Asteroids from hitting the Earth? (BNAIC)🤔

That's pretty cool how you see the leiden frost* effect happen and how it stops melting as the air becomes trapped but since the air kept getting hotter and hotter it itself melted the ice and u see all the pressure pop out then it continues to melt it and there is now no laden frost effect which I would assume happen because it's not hot enough to instantly make the ice gaseous anymore

I guess that's why firefighters use water
