Flight 13 Fun Fact – VH-OLL was the second oldest aircraft I flew on this trip at 34 years, 8 months old. It was beaten by only by a De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter in the Cayman Islands registered VP-CXA. VP-CXA, operated by Cayman Airways Express, was 45 years old, meaning VH-OLL seen in this video still was beaten by over 10 years.

that approach footage was some of the best i’ve seen! having it be mostly nature really gives the perspective of how fast you’re actually going, rather than a bunch of flat land. also being in front of the wing with the camera facing helps with that as well, just watching the coast zoom by is awesome!! beautiful approach

I saw VH-OLL fly over straight over me today, the Rex logo was visible on the wing fairing. Thank goodness it has the blue seats, they look retrimmed. Not the grey and orange seats in the ex American Eagle aircraft (like VH-ZRZ for example).

I had to look up where MYA was. I was in Australia in November 2001. This was very soon after the 9/11 attacks. I encountered few Americans during my entire visit to AU. Some people thought I was crazy for wanting to travel internationally when I did and others were concerned about me. I sent out regular email accounts of my trip to reassure everyone I was doing fine.

I didn't do any of these short domestic flights. I did Adelaide to Perth, Perth to Alice Springs and Alice Springs to Sydney. On the 2nd domestic flight, I had a GREAT view of Uluru (Ayer's Rock). Wow. That thing was huge - even from 35, 000 feet!

Well, guess what. Today, November 19th is statistically the wettest day of the year here. Yes, we're on tap for rain today, a cyclone bomb, in fact, so batten down the hatches and secure all lines. 2 years ago, it was sunny all the way across WA the entire day with no rain in sight, so some years, it can indeed be dry today. But not this year.
