Graphing the Cosine Function with a Phase Shift

👉 Learn how to graph a cosine function. To graph a cosine function, we first determine the amplitude (the maximum point on the graph), the period (the distance/time for a complete oscillation), the phase shift (the horizontal shift from the parent function), the vertical shift (the vertical shift from the parent function) and the x-scale (the distance between the turns and the x-intercepts). After we have obtained these features, we plot the points on the graph and graph accordingly.

at 6:00 you sir graphed from pie/4 to -pie/4.. shouldn't you go from pie/4 to 0 before getting to -pie/4 ??

Wouldn't the end point be 9pi/4 because 2+1/4=9/4, or in the decimal form 2.25?

Great videos btw! You're a life saver, thank you for what you do Mr. McLogan!

I started to notice in some videos you have a start and end points and other videos you only look for starting point and allowing you period as an end point. I am not sure why your utilizing two different concepts. Can you fill me in?

Why is it a reflection over the x-axis?

End point is 9pi/4 not 5pi/4. And as usual you forgot to reflect about the x - axis.

Hi, just verifying because I am coming out with different but isn't 2 pi + pi/4 = 9pi/4? In the video you have that it came out to 5pi/4
