A glass of wine and this music under low light make a perfect match after a tiring day.

“Simple, yet beautiful. Melancholy, yet charming.”

How lovely is the music composed by John Field! Every tune is peaceful, calm, elegant and delightful.

I listen to his nocturnes every day, but I never tired of listening to them. I enjoy his music when I am happy as well as when I am sad and lonely.
Now his music echoes inside my heart all the time, and I am sure his nocturne will be one of my best and favorite for the rest of my life.

I don’t know why his music is not so well-known. Maybe they are not dynamic or dramatic enough. I like the sensitivity in his music – never pushy or never over exaggerated.

---

I wanted to introduce his work to other listeners, so I submitted a request to the local classical music radio station (KUSC) to air his nocturnes. They aired only one nocturne. On another evening, I heard another of his short nocturnes playing on this station. These are the only two occasions I have heard John Field’s music played on the station.

I posted some videos of his music on my blog to introduce his work to Japanese readers.

But I have not received any comments about his music.
It is a pity. His music is a hidden gem and should be appreciated more and properly valued.

With all the constant negative energy from the media being pummeled down our throats every day...its great to just shut the f'ing TV off for a while and  listen to this music ..which restores the soul.

Discovered through Tolstoy’s War and Peace (Vol. II, Part 4, X). A favorite of Natasha’s mother, Countess Rostov, to hear as Christmastime.

Every time I listen to this, I am brought to tears in awe; I wonder how something so beautiful can exist. I wonder if the world is even worthy of this much beauty- pure grace. Its like receiving an extremely rare and valuable gift that we did nothing to earn. People like Field are a blessing to the world.

An advertisement inserted almost between every nocturne — hope you guys are making a lot of money, but as something soothing and beautiful to listen to while I work I’ll have to find these nocturnes elsewhere.

I've listened to Chopin and Schubert for years, and I thought nothing could match their beauty...but apparently it can.

Wonderful. John Field- a wealth of wonderful music but very little known by the general public and yet, what an amazing talent. The Father of the nocturnes!

There are pieces in the wrong order. At 34:26 is number 10 not number 9. Number 8 is actually number 9 at 30:20. Number 7 is actually number 8.
