"My hand!" "What do you want me to do?" "I got to keep going". Man they don't make em like that anymore. Chills.

I remember heading over to a friend's house to watch the first Ward Gatti fight. The plan was simple: drink a couple of beers and watch a (hopefully) good fight. By round 3 or so we knew we were watching history and that these guys were just cut different from the others. We were standing up, screaming at the top of our lungs at all the insane exchanges these guys got into. We were totally blown away, and to this day it's probably the single best sporting event I've ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal - there's just nothing like these two in my book.

One day I hope to find something I love as much as Jim Lampley loves boxing. He’s often reduced to tears when talking about great fights. He’s a legend.

Had the privilege of meeting Ward not long after he retired. It was a small-time autograph session at a pub in Nashua NH. I was a much larger man at the time, probably 60 pounds heavier and in prime of my life. I’d had a few scuffles in my past and could throw, but I remember shaking his hand and thinking this guy would kick my ass in very short order. Humbling experience. He seemed such a kind gentleman. Anyway, his autographed photo has been on display in the man-cave ever since. ✌️

I actually cried in the first fight. Tears of joy. One of the last matches me and my grandpa watched together. Unbelievable video BLTV.

I've always loved Jim Lampleys passion when talking about the sport.

This is what intestinal fortitude looks like. These two warriors left everything in the ring. This is the sport that I love. This is boxing.

Truly the greatest trilogy I ever witnessed, and I have been watching boxing for 45 years. Honestly mesmerizing.

Gatti's worst nightmare turned out to be his wife. Ward and Gatti became very good friends and they both earned that friendship in the ring. Much respect to both fighters. Rest in peace champ! 🥊

I can watch documentaries, youtube videos, clips, shorts, whatever, about this trilogy over and over, and get chills every time. The respect shines through just as loudly as the heart and talent.

Two incredible men, who were best friends out of the ring, but fought like the worst enemies in it.
Three incredible fights, that unfortunately we rarely see today.

When Jim Lampley actually TEARS UP at the mere mention of Round 9, you just know it was something unbelievably special in person.

This is what modern boxing is lacking. Heart. Indominable spirit. Show everyone. The whole world what you are fucking made of.

Been watching boxing for over 50 years and this was one of the top 3 fights I've ever seen. Unreal stamania.

The emotion when Jim talks about round 9. The tears. Just amazing. And then to have Ward be a cornerman for Gatti years later. And for Ward to be inducted into the boxing hall of fame and give tribute to Gatti who by then had been murdered. Amazing how they were both so connected to each other. Beautifully barbarically lovely.

Its crazy seeing how many people are saying they remember where they were when seeing Ward vs Gatti 1. You know its on another level when its literally burned into your childhood memories
