Why Serato deletes crates

Показать описание
Your crates haven’t disappeared. They are just saved somewhere else.

There are two things that cause this problem:

1. What is usually causing this problem is that you have a “Serato” folder on the internal drive. When you launch Serato, it looks for that folder on the internal drive first, then the external. If it finds one on the internal drive it will stop looking. Then when you pull music from your external drive into your crates, Serato will save those crates in a “Serato” folder on the drive that the music came from. So next time you open Serato, it will load up the internal Serato folder and forget about the folder that has all the crates saved on the external drive.
To solve this simply delete the Serato folder that is on the internal drive.

2. If a crate has no songs added to it, Serato will automatically delete that crate when you exit the program. It’s to keep things clean and tidy. In order to keep a crate, you have to add at least one song to it.

I had my music on an external drive and Serato wasn’t saving crates, either on my internal or external drive. So I kept losing everything. Turned out read/write permissions were set to “read only”. On OSX, right click the drive, click “get info” and check your drive permissions. Seems like a huge oversight on Serato. It should warn you that it could not successfully save the crates.

That's weird if there is no option to activate/deactivate empty crate deletion on close;).

Man I just spent literally 5 hours fixing genres into crates was barely a quarter into my library 1600 songs out 6800 and saw the back up serato after closing and reopened it to check crates were sent to the trash and not all songs went back to crates when put back manually

I’m having a different issue. I had two or three crates full of music go missing after analyzing my library. One of them is still in my sub crate folder with (safe) next to it but I can’t import into my actual library. Doesn’t have to do with an external drive in my case

I don't want my crate deleted after I name it, even if it is empty. I hope to come back to it next time..

Serato had all my crates emptied, then erased all empty crates. Which were crates that I created over the years. How do I recover all of my crates that were saved in my external hard drive?

Hi, I’ve just bought an Apple Mac book air M3, I have migrated over from a windows 10 laptop. Everything seems fine but it’s not saving crates. All the crates I created on windows 10 are there but it won’t save anything once I close the programme .

Will, I have this extact problem switching over to a new laptop both MacBook Pro's. I followed your directions with one problem, when I deleted the _Serato_ file on my CPU hard drive it automatically deleted it from my EXT hard drive at the same time. I tried to rename it and create a new file on my EXT, but when I changed the name to _Serato_old it automatically changed the one on my EXT as well. They are somehow tied together and you can't get rid of one without the other.

Any help is appriciated...thanks.

I noticed you didn't have "Protect Library" checked off.

Would you happen to know what causes songs to randomly disappear from crates? This happens often with me for some reason. All my music is housed internally in one folder and its never moved.

Good evening! Once you've delete both serato folds from the internal hard drive. Is it deleted permanently from the internal hard drive or is this something you'll have to do everytime you close serato?

Oh k, I saw you highlight both Serato folders, do both get deleted? I’m running a MacBook Air, will it apply to it? I’m having issues with adding folders to crate from two different external drives and only one of the drives appears (the folders I added to crates) but the other folders from the other external drive aren’t there or the crates are empty (which all of the files are there)

Well tbh I was actually messing around with my crates and accidentally created duplicated crates on both my hard drive and laptop
