Vanlife Conversion I 10 things we LOVE about our campervan

After living in our van full-time for over 6 months now, here are 10 things we LOVE about our build - things that we would DEFINITELY build in another van and things that we suggest you consider when working on your own DIY van.

WHO WE ARE? WHAT’S WITH OUR ACCENT?

We're Dom & Marie, a French Canadian couple who love Nutella and live in a van. Marie is the brain (Ph.D. student) and Dom's the dreamer (Creative Director).

In our newly converted Promaster 136'' named Vanessa, we plan to visit every single corner of North America. Our goal is to inspire others to start #vanlife and to help build their very own home on wheels.

I prefer the darker trim. I like the more dramatic contrast. I also like your placement of the sink near the sliding door. Being able to wash outside is a plus. And I'm not surprised at how many subscribers you have in a short time. I think you two are adorable, very entertaining. In fact, I can see you having your own half hour TV sit com. The plot could be two young French-Canadians who move to Los Angeles trying to establish their respective careers. Watching you learn about and negotiate the craziness of southern California could be hilarious. Betcha didn't see that coming? lol

Dark scheme, sorry Marie. Plus I would go for an extra stripe on the new van Don. Its going to be a bigger van and for sure that extra 5 hp could be make or break.

Love both colors, but the lighter one is more cheerful and warm on a foggy ocean day. (Dark is more elegant, but elegant is almost always more uncomfortable, have you noticed😂?) I love the ceiling, the table storage, the smaller cabinets and open space inside the van - I vote it best use of space inside cabinets!! - the water, the outside metal box... wait, I just love YOUR van!💕 and your fun, funny videos.

Hi guys, I love your natural & relaxed approach to your videos and the content is always fun but informative. I would say the light wood as it's gives a happy, cozy & visibly warm homey look. I would configure the water cabinet a little different (maybe wider containers instead of tall) and put in a drawer at the bottom accessed from inside on the side (facing passenger seat) for shoes. A pivoted fold out desk for the passenger seat. The dark scheme makes it "seem" to disappear and you focus on the view outside. The lighter color would draw your eye up to it first and it would compete with the view. Sorry Marie.

Sorry Marie but I have to agree with Dom. That dark scheme is absolutely beautiful and has such a rich undertone. Love you anyway Marie haha, sincerely, a lover of darker wood

Hangers ~ I am at self-serve junkyards often for some of my (hobbies): refreshing older cars and reselling, and selling ‘rarish’ parts on eBay. I have found FANTASTIC spring-loaded “hooks” in the trunks of VW, Audi, Mercedes, BMW (.... European) sedans. They lie FLAT, are very sturdy, install with two screws, and aren’t a ‘hazard’ for bumping head, or ...

It’s so hard to choose which color but I think I would go with the lighter version. I am not surprised at the amount of subscribers you guys are amazing! Your personalities just go so well together

The utensil drawer and plate drawer are two things I would absolutely have in a van, a little bit of a clean freak/ocd myself
