Lamley Preview: Matchbox 2022 New Models with Designer Abe Lugo

After the Matchbox 2022 Line Preview Presentation at the 2021 Matchbox Convention, I got together with Matchbox Designer Abe Lugo to dive deeper into some of the upcoming models for 2022, all in various stages of development. I cannot wait for many of these, and you'll be excited too.

I know hundreds of people that have been waiting for any diecast manufacturers to release Jeep Forward Control (FC) in 1/60 scale for years. Happy to see that their prayers have been answered. Thanks Matchbox! Now I'm looking forward to that RAM Ambulance and the Model X

Love the Ryu tribute. Super excited about the Brat and the Celeste (AKA Plymouth Arrow!) Also very cool to see sedans get love over the typical hard tops with that 56. Definitely lots for us customizers to sink our teeth into. Very exciting!

It's good to see Matchbox going back to its roots. It takes me back to the golden era (2005-2011) which is how it should've been this whole time with no sudden direction change in between. Unlike the golden era, it's too bad some of these cars are plagued by major cost cutting with grey bases instead of chrome for classic cars, blue tint windows, no interiors and the ugly safety posts in the back of tall roof vehicles such as SUVs, hatchbacks, and wagons.

Thanks L & Ls (Lambert & Lugo)! Another home run for Matchbox that gets better and better each year. This is where Matchbox should have been for the last 30 years! Thank goodness Mattel has fiigured out the market position of Matchbox. There is room for everyone in the diecast world! But c'mon, Cadillac "Blackbird"? I'm pleased to see the BLACKWING. It's interesting too how generic the styling of many vehicles has become when even the model car design master is having trouble differentiating some of the SUVs from one another. Regardless, thanks L and L!! You guys really bring joy to the collecting world.

Am I the only one who saw a MUNTZ JET ? You look at a.stupid Mustang, but no looks at the Buick Conv. or the Muntz Jet. Still no word on the Diamond T from a few years ago.
