LYRICS:
There's a hole in my shoe but I don't mind
'Cause it keeps me connected to the ground when I'm
Feelin' like maybe if I ain't careful I'll just blow away
Then the lightnin' strikes the thunder rolls and I'm ok

Everywhere I go
People pass me by
They never know 'cause I'm
Invisible
A shadow hangin' low
A footstep just behind
They carry on but I'm
Invisible

I'm taking my time but I ain't slow
'Cause it ain't like I got anyplace else to go
But there's ghosts in these streets and they're callin' my name
And I follow 'em down in the dark again

An angel bendin' down
To whisper in your ear
You turn around but we're
Invisible

A rumble underground
Your deepest darkest fear
You hear the sound but they're
Invisible

Brother can you spare
A dollar and a dime?
The cupboard's bare and I'm
Invisible
Travel anywhere
You won't ever find
A purer heart 'cause mine's
Invisible
I'm invisible

Way to go man! I've been homeless, may be headed that way again soon! Folks like you can make a whole day seem kinder in a way! Peace...

This should be on every TV, every minute, every second. This should play on every radio

I'm so glad Steve Earle left Nashville and Re-Located to NYC. Nashville is the country music capital of the USA and if country music is about telling the truth, they forgot how to do that. Kudos to you Steve for not being afraid to stand up and tell the truth!

Anyone who has ever lived on the streets and fallen between the cracks knows how being invisible feels.

Steve Earle continues to speak out for those who cannot find their own voices.  God bless him not only for this but for continuing to tell the truth about life's failures.

A true poet, Steve. Lives it, then sings it...

I've always loved this song but this is the first time I've seen the video and man, it is powerful. I'm a 55 yr old man and I just burst out in tears during the scene of the homeless man eating from the garbage can. This happens way to often and there is no good reason why with the wealth and abundance we have in North America. So sad and so, so wrong. Btw if anyone is interested this video was written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson, the short silly con who went on the lam with Clooney in the Oh Brother film. What a talented guy. Kudos.

Steve always leaves his heart and soul in every song. This is no exception.

God, how I love Steve Earle's songs. This one, as they all do, strikes at the heart.

Steve Earle is underrated. His drug use in the late 80's and early 90's kept him from becoming huge. Outspoken, but you have to love his honesty. Hell of a nice guy to meet too.

I heard this song many of times but did not realize it was Steve Earl. No wonder I liked to so well. If this doesn't tug at your heart strings...nothing will.

More relevant in 2024 as there are more homeless then ever too many people fall thru the cracks rents at all time high wages are not do not assume all homeless are addicts or mental life is precious and this can happen to anyone lose a job det injured incapacitated we never know what life will take us

i have seen angels first hand, and they were disguised as homeless men. you never know who your REALY dealing with, so treat all with the respect you would treat Jesus

SE reflects what's around him, he's living in NYC now so it's homeless issues, when he was in Nashville it was Guitar Town and on and on. He's a musical mirror

I don't usually listen to Indie Artist Videos on here but this one was to good to pass up. I rank this one as one of the best Indie Artist Video Ive seen on here. Very emotional and had a good impact on what life is like for those invisible Americans that people keep passing by and never seeing.

On a way to the Steve Earle concert last night we saw a homeless girl, we were at the lights I opened the window, the lights changed, she came from her sitting position to the car window and thanked us for the money, then we went onto the concert and our reward was seeing Steve Earle singing Invisible.

Steve Earle continues to prove that he is the best. Even without a video he paints the picture in your your mind. Go to one of his shows if you ever get the chance.

Steve Earle is the best songwriter I have ever heard. I like this new song. I wish you wellness and happiness, Steve. I have no idea what to do personally about life and all it's turns and burn marks, however I find alot of inner strenght and hope, somewhow, as I listen to Steve. I enjoy all of his songs. He makes great records too. I wish you great success. I'm a real fan. No one inspires other songwroters as much as Steve and Dylan, True Art, True songs, truth man. yeah.

I hate this song but love it to tears even more it really touches my heart and give it a squeeze I wish that one day I will be able to help all those people that don't have roofs over their heads. I feel really guilty when I can't help people in these conditions and it breaks my heart little by little

It's sad the world doesn't stop for one person. It appears that way and yet this song exists. Good stuff.
